JALT PanSIG 2026 "Building Language Competencies Through Community" Chukyo University, Nagoya May 23 - 24, 2026 | Saturday – Sunday Call for Presentation Proposals The call for vetted presentation proposals is open December 15, 2025 - January 18, 2026. *Please carefully read the PanSIG 2026 call for presentations for full details on submitting a presentation proposal. **Submissions are made through the JALT event platform: https://events.jalt.org/event/74/. The JALT PanSIG 2026 Conference will take place from May 23rd to 24th, 2026, at Chukyo University in Nagoya. It will be a face-to-face event. The theme for PanSIG 2026 is "Building Language Competencies Through Community. " As usual, the event is planned, organized, and hosted together with JALT’s more than 30 special interest groups, or SIGs. Last year’s PanSIG was a call to turn knowledge into action and explored the role of agency and autonomy in language learning. Greeting from President

Dear LiLT SIG members, I want to say thank you for being members of the Literature in Language Teaching SIG. I would also like to quickly introduce myself as the new President of LiLT. My name is Camilo Villanueva, and I took over from Suzanne Kamata this January. I would like to send a big thanks to Suzanne for all of her hard work at LiLT and especially for her help in easing my transition to this new role. As part of my duties representing all of you members of the LiLT SIG, I attended, virtually, the February EBM (executive board meeting) and met with other leaders of SIGs and Chapters, along with the directors of JALT. JALT International Conference, 16th-23rd November, 2020 LiLT SIG Featured Speaker:  Dr. Christian Jones (Liverpool University, UK) Sponsored by JALT Literature in Language Teaching SIG Literary Texts: Access, Activity and Awareness Saturday, Nov 21, 4:45 PM – 5:45 PM This workshop will illustrate an Access, Activity and Awareness methodology (Jones and Carter, 2012) and show how we can apply this method to any piece of literature. This interactive workshop will demonstrate that literary texts are rich in both spoken and written language by asking participants to work directly with a range of sample texts. It will also show that such texts can develop student engagement and language awareness at different levels and age groups.
